LIBRARY CHOOSES NYC ARCHITECTS FOR RENOVATION PROJECT

The Maplewood Library moved a step closer to its $15 million renovation plan by announcing the hiring of Sage and Coombe Architects of New York City to create a design for the main library, according to a press release.

It stated the firm will "fully engage the public over approximately six months" and "explore environmental and structural aspects of an enhanced library, as well as issues of accessibility and sustainability." It added that the design will "embrace and emphasize the library's location within Memorial Park."

The library's board of trustees chose the architects from among 39 firms that submitted proposals. See the full release HERE.

The Township Committee last year heard the first requests for funding of at least part of the renovation.
