ELECTIONEERING: KNOW THE LAW IF YOU PLAN TO PROMOTE YOUR CANDIDATE

We've already seen the first report of alleged illegal electioneering at Town Hall with someone handing out school board election fliers, no indication for whom, on the steps of Town Hall.

Police responded and found the electioneerers were far enough away from the front door.

But it's a reminder that state law says such electioneering cannot occur within 100 feet of a polling place. If you see someone doing so, you can report them to Maplewood Police at 973-762-3400.

What good is a handout if it doesn't specify a candidate?!
