MAPLEWOODSTOCK BEER WILL FLOW EARLIER

The Maplewoodstock beer garden will operate two hours earlier this year after the Township Committee voted to allow it to open at Noon each day rather than 2 p.m. as in the past.

The TC was split on this issue, voting 3-2 on a resolution Wednesday night allowing the earlier time, as it has been on the entire beer garden operation since it began five years ago. TC members India Larrier and Marlon Brownlee voted against the earlier start time.

Maplewoodstock is set for July 9 and 10 at Memorial Park.

In other action, the committee also voted to allow curbside basketball hoops to be used 10 days earlier in the spring, altering a previous ordinance that had barred them between January 1 and April 1.

Next year, they can be used as early as March 21, the first day of spring. That was approved in a 5-0 vote.
