NATIONAL LIBRARY GROUP OPPOSES SCHOOL LIBRARIAN CUTS

As the school board prepares to introduce a proposed budget for the 2016-2017 school year on Monday, which includes eliminating two librarian/media specialist positions, the top national association of librarians is strongly objecting.

In a March 14 letter to the district, the American Library Association urged the district to re-think the cuts, stating, "school librarians are the heart of vibrant learning communities and wear many hats."
