TUSCAN SCHOOL OVERREACTS AND PASSES THE BUCK AFTER SCHOOL

Because of one instance of a child going to the wrong location after school, Tuscan School teachers and staff will no longer help students who might have an after-school change in routine, or at least that is what it seems from a notice issued to parents this week.

Read it below and make your best guess from this latest bureaucratic passing of the buck and overreaction:

Dear Tuscan Family~

Tuscan School’s faculty and administration are dedicated to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our students in every possible way. Throughout the school year, and whenever an incidence occurs, safety and security practices are thoroughly reviewed, evaluated and updated.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, parents should no longer request for teachers and/or office staff to make adjustments for various non-emergency and irregular after school alternative pickup arrangements. 

This notice is a result of a frightening incident that occurred at dismissal on Tuesday, October 27^th. Although a 2^nd grader routinely reported to the café for safe and supervised aftercare, incidences of miscommunication caused fear when it was believed that our 2^nd grade student was missing after being escorted to the blacktop. This frightening occurrence signaled our need to encourage and promote regular dismissal routines for Tuscan’s children.

While we continue to review, evaluate and update our safety practices, we ask for your partnership and cooperation.
