ANOTHER GROUP JOINS POST OFFICE PROJECT DEBATE

As the Maplewood Village post office issue continues with the next move set for the Maplewood Village Alliance board meeting later this month, yet another group has formed to offer up information and insight into the plan.

Villagefacts.org launched just last week with a website that seeks to counter some of the arguments that have arisen related to the planned three-story, 20-apartment unit project set to replace the Maplewood Village post office. The proposal would also include five retail shops.

The project has raised concerns among some residents for its modern design and a five-year partial property tax abatement.

The Villagefacts website states it was created because its "time for the facts on the Post Office project. Because facts matter." It seems to offer support for the latest version of the project. The site also lists many of the arguments against the project and counterarguments.

Villagefacts joins a growing list of groups seeking to influence the decision process that include Engage Maplewood, OhNo60 and Village Keepers, which has also filed suit against the Township related to the Maplewood Village Alliance approvals of the initial plan.
