TEACHERS UNION ENDORSES GREG LEMBRICH IN UNUSUAL MOVE

In an unusual move, the South Orange Maplewood Education Association has endorsed a candidate in the Township Committee race, Greg Lembrich, according to SOMEA Communications Coordinater Danielle Perrotta.

In a statement to Maplewoodian.com, she said:

We are very excited about Greg's candidacy. This is the first time we are endorsing a Township Committee candidate. Greg expresses his interest in education with intelligence and heart. He wants to bring back a formal communication line between the leaders of the town and the Board of Education - a fresh idea that we are enthusiastic to support. When we heard his ideas on education, and that his daughter is about to enter the district, we asked him to meet our members and talk about his vision and ideas.

The teacher's union also issued this statement about the endorsement:

South Orange Maplewood Education Association is proud to announce that we are endorsing Greg Lembrich in his candidacy for Maplewood Township Committee. Greg spoke to our members at today’s rep council committee meeting.

He spoke about his interest in bringing more communication between the Township Committee and the Board of Education members. In addition, he provided us information about the PILOTs (payment in lieu of taxes) that are being given to developers in our towns. PILOTs incentivize developers, but the tax money does not come to our schools.

Greg spoke about his respect for educators and staff and his willingness to work collectively with all stakeholders of the district. Please visit his Facebook page, Greg Lembrich for Township Committee and see his website www.greg4maplewood.com for more information on the issues.
