TOWNSHIP ISSUES LAWN WORK RULES REMINDER - NOT TOO EARLY, NOW

From the Township today:

Lawn & Garden Maintenance Reminders

April showers bring May flowers! ...and flowers bring lawn and garden maintenance.

Like most communities in the area, Maplewood residents contract various service companies that take care of their grounds and premises. Other residents prefer to do the work themselves. As warmer weather continues, here are some reminders for Spring lawn maintenance & clean up.
  • Thinking of contracting a commercial lawn maintenance company? They must be registered with the Township Public Works Department.
  • No commercial lawn maintenance business shall deposit leaves on a public street before September 1 or after December 1 of each year.
  • Use of leaf blowers with a decibel rating of greater than 65dB(a) shall be prohibited between May 1 through October 15 of each year.
  • Only leaf blower machines that meet federal EPA "Standards for Small Spark Ignition Handheld Engines" are permitted.
  • No work for the purpose of home maintenance or lawn care which uses equipment with a constant running engine producing excessive noise may begin work prior to 7:30AM on weekdays and 8:00AM on Saturdays. All work must be completed by 8:00PM. Sunday's work hours are 11:00AM to 6:00PM.
