NEW SUPER DEAL, BUDGET AND IB REMOVAL TOP LENGTHY SCHOOL BOARD AGENDA TONIGHT

Lots of things to watch at the Board of Education meeting tonight.

Along with adoption of the proposed 2015-2016 district budget, the board will formally approve the hiring of new superintendent John Ramos with a five-year deal at $175,000 per year.

In addition, a resolution we told you about weeks ago that would allow home-schooled students to participate in Columbia High School sports teams is up for a vote, along with discussion of removing the International Baccalaureate programs from the middle schools.

You may recall, the IB program was criticized by some students and teachers earlier this year.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the board offices, 525 Academy St. You can also watch it on SOMA TV.
