MMS LOCKDOWN LIFTED

From the school district:

MMS Community:
The Maplewood Police Department has lifted the lockdown.  They have assured us that there was not a threat to student or staff safety at any time.  Classes have resumed.
We appreciate the full support of the Maplewood Police Department in responding to the alarm, and the cooperation of our students and staff in following appropriate lockdown procedures.

Acting Superintendent

Why don't we get a detailed explanation from the school district on the lockdown? I was on my way to the library yesterday morning and heard the alarm going off at the school. It was still going off when I came out of the library 15 minutes later. My 8th grader has a hard time with alarms and other loud noise, so I was concerned for him and wondered what was going on in the building. The brief email that came after classes resumed led me to believe it was some kind of false alarm. However, the story I heard from son after school was that a person who had "committed a crime" somehow entered the building to hide, and that's what set off the alarm. REALLY? MMS parents and the community certainly need more information.
