TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE DELAYS POST OFFICE PLAN CHANGES; CRITICISM CONTINUES

The Township Committee on Tuesday voted to table a final vote on changes to the proposed Maplewood Village Post Office redevelopment, citing an error in how the ordinance was publicized.

But the tabling until the next meeting next month did not stop a string of residents, including former TC member David Huemer, from criticizing the overall plan and proposed changes that would increase its height and exempt it from a 10% affordable housing requirement.

The TC also gave initial approval to a plan that would allow the developers to apply for a tax abatement that could have them paying only partial taxes for five years.

After Huemer spoke, several other residents also objected to the design and changes and much of the process.
