LOCAL AUTHOR AT MAPLEWOOD LIBRARY TODAY

MAPLEWOOD IDEAS FESTIVAL

Maplewood Library wraps up its Centennial Year with the first annual Maplewood Ideas Festival and Maplewood Literary Award. For a full lineup of programs, go to www.maplewoodlibrary.org

Judith Viorst was born and grew up in Maplewood. She writes in many different areas: science books, children’s picture books, adult fiction and nonfiction, poetry for children and adults, and musicals, which are still performed on stages around the country. She is best known for her beloved picture book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Her talk is titled Loves and Longings and Wicked Thoughts: The Shared Experiences of Children and Adults

After the talk, Maplewood Library Director Sarah Lester will present Ms. Viorst with the First Annual Maplewood Literary Award. A reception with refreshments will follow.
