TOWNSHIP BUDGET IS ONLINE, SEE WHAT YOUR TAXES ARE BUYING

The Township Committee has posted the proposed 2014 budget on its website.

As we reported, the TC on Tuesday approved a $39.9 million spending plan with a 2% tax hike and an average increase of $75 for a home assessed at $395,000.

But look through the specifics and see how the money is spent and where it comes from. For example, the township made $239,000 last year in parking meter fees and receives $75,000 annually in rent for the Maplewood Village Post Office site.

Keep that in mind as the post office redevelopment is discussed as anything above that amount is the key.

See the entire budget HERE. The TC will hold a hearing on the spending plan on May 20.
