Payne Announces More than $8.4 Million in FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grants to New Jersey for 2014, An Increase
of $400,000 from Last Year
Newark, N.J. –
Today, Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) announced more than
$8.4 million in 2014 Federal Emergency Management (FEMA), Emergency
Management Performance Grants (EMPG) to New Jersey – an increase of
$400,000 from
FY 2013. In FY 2014, the Emergency Management Performance Grants
(EMPG) Program provides $350,100,000 to assist State, local,
territorial, and tribal governments in preparing for all hazards.

New Jersey will receive such an important grant to continue providing
the safety and security that all those who live in our State expect and
deserve,” said
Rep. Payne, Jr., Ranking Member of
the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness,
Response, and Communications.
“As the sole Member from New Jersey serving on the House Committee
on Homeland Security, ensuring that our first responders and emergency
management personnel have the workforce, the training, and the equipment
necessary to protect our communities, is a
responsibility that I take very seriously and do so with great pride.”
The
FY 2014 EMPG Program will focus on planning, operations, equipment
acquisitions, training, exercises, and construction and renovation in
enhancing and sustaining their all-hazards core capabilities. For more

The period of performance for the EMPG Program is 24 months from October
1, 2013 to September 30, 2015.
