SEVERAL AUTO-RELATED THEFTS MARK POLICE WEEK

This from Maplewood Police today:


November 26, 2012, Motor Vehicle Theft, During the past few days a Dodge Caravan was taken from the DYFS building on Burnett Ave.  The vehicle was involved in an accident in Irvington and recovered by Irvington PD prior to being reported stolen.

November 28, 2012, Motor Vehicle Theft, Sometime during the early evening a Range Rover was taken in front of an Elmwood Ave residence.

November 29, 2012, Theft of Auto Parts, A Springfield Ave business reported that sometime overnight two catalytic convertors were removed from two work vehicles parked on the property.

November 30, 2012, Theft from Vehicle, Two unlocked vehicles on Yale St were entered during the overnight hours and change removed.

December 2, 2012, Motor Vehicle Theft, At 730 PM, Officers responded to the DYFS building on Burnett Ave on a report of individuals looking into cars.  Upon the officers’ arrival, three juveniles that were attempting to steal two separate Dodge Caravans were located.  The individuals attempted to run from officers.  Officers Lawson and Mesler were able to take the first actor into custody and responding Officers Ferraro and Kelly were able to take a second actor into custody.  Two of the three observed juveniles were able to be taken into custody.
