DE HART FIELD REOPENS

The debacle that was De Hart field renovation ended as the field is open again, according to this press release on the Township website:

Maplewood Reopens DeHart Field

The Township of Maplewood reopened the playing field at DeHart Park effective today. The fields were closed at the end of last year after it was discovered that the turf installed in the renovation project had a base netting which was not allowed under the bid specifications for the project. The contractor stripped the field and installed the correct turf material at no cost to the township. The field has since been allowed to take hold of the new turf and the township has an organic playing field.
“The inconvenience to the teams and others who use the field is now over. With the proper usage and maintenance the fields will provide many years of recreational opportunities.” said Mayor Victor De Luca.
Teams wanting to use the field for games must contact Damian Serafin at dserafin@twp.maplewood.nj.us in order to schedule games for the remainder of the season
