STRING OF BURGLARIES MARKS POLICE WEEK

Eight burglaries reported this week, along with a deliveryman held up at gunpoint. Should we be concerned?



August 27, 2012 Robbery; A Chinese food deliveryman was approached by two males on Tiffany Place.  One displayed a handgun.  The deliveryman dropped the food and ran.  The actors chased the deliveryman momentarily before fleeing on foot towards Irvington.  

August 28, 2012 Burglary; A Elmwood Ave resident reported that their home was burglarized sometime during the day.  Jewelry was taken from the home.

August 28, 2012 Burglary; A Boyden Ave resident reported that their home was burglarized.  An alarm was activated at the home at approximately 1120 AM.  Jewlery was reported to be missing.

August 28, 2012 Burglary; The owner of Vixon 6, a store on Springfield Ave reported that sometime between 08/11 and 08/28, the contents of the store were stolen.  A window was reportedly the entry point.

August 28, 2012 Auto Theft; A vehicle was reported stolen at approximately 2 PM from the Valley National Bank parking lot on Irvington Ave.  It was recovered the next day in Newark .

August 29, 2012 Burglary; A Springfield Ave business had an alarm activation at 420 Am.  Officers responded and found that the establishment had been burglarized. Kevin Goode a 50 year old male from Maplewood was stopped and arrested a short distance away with proceeds of the burglary in his possession. 

August 30, 2012 Burglary; A home on Tiffany Pl was burglarized at approximately 10 Am.  A witness observed two juvenile females and a juvenile male leave the home. 

August 30, 2012 Burglary; A vacant Highland Ave home was entered and copper pipes removed from the home.

August 30, 2012 Burglary; An Orchard Rd resident reports that someone entered her unlocked side door and removed her purse.  This took place after she responded to the front door because the door bell was rung.

August 31, 2012 Burglary; A Franklin Terr resident had a rear door forced open and jewelry removed from the residence.
