SOCCER SNAFU

A day before the Maplewood Soccer and Cougar programs were set to begin Saturday, many received this surprise that will likely have some initial impact:

We have found ourselves in an unprecedented situation. Since completing rosters
on Monday we have received more than 60 new registrations. As a community-based
organization, we have a guiding philosophy to not turn away kids who want an
introduction to soccer.

For our Minis/U6s/U7s and U8s (Academy) this means we are creating 2 new teams
for each age group and some of you may end up in a different team. The
alternative was to increase the roster size which would have meant less playing
and coaching time for each child.

So, while inconvenient, I ask for your understanding as we rebuild the rosters
knowing this is in the best interests of community involvement and player
development.

New rosters and schedules will be sent out today. And, if anyone wanted to
coach but wasn't part of the first group of coaches ... we could use 2 parents
from each age group to make this all possible.
