BURGLARIES TOP POLICE LIST, INCLUDING A MAPLEWOOD AVE. EATERY

Police issued this Monday night:


February 3, 2012: Burglary Arrest. On 2/3/12, Stephan Farrar, 20, of 876 South 18th Street, Newark was arrested and charged with burglarizing a Maplewood Avenue restaurant on 1/21/12. The arrest was the result of a comprehensive investigation conducted by the members of MPD Detective Bureau, with Detective Robert Smith at the lead. Detectives utilized a combination of traditional investigative methods and cutting edge technologies to identify the suspect. The investigation is still active at this time.

February 4, 2012: Graffiti. On 2/4/12, officers responded to Maplecrest Park on a report of graffiti in the park. Officers observed that four trees and a park bench had been written on. The Department of Public Works was notified.

February 8, 2012: Warrant Arrest. On 2/8/12, Officer J. Moen conducted a traffic stop of a Chevy Van on Springfield Avenue for a violation of failure to inspect. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ashton Spencer, 53, of 157 Pierson Street in Orange, NJ was found to have an active warrant out of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office for Civil Contempt. Upon confirmation, Spencer was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing.

February 9, 2012: Burglary. On 2/9/12, a Mosswood Terrace resident reported that shortly after 8:48 am, she heard a door slam. She initially assumed it was a family member returning home, but soon realized that a Mac Book Pro laptop computer was missing from the residence. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

February 9, 2012: Burglary. On 2/9/12, a Norfolk Avenue resident reported that unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence through unlocked French style doors and had removed a Dell brand laptop computer from a first floor room. The incident reportedly occurred between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm.

February 9, 2012: Burglary. On 2/9/12, a Boyden Avenue resident reported that unknown suspect(s) had burglarized the residence between the hours of 11:00 am and 3:32 pm. The resident reported that numerous items of jewelry were missing, including a silver Gucci necklace with a cross pendant, a silver Movado watch, a Coach square face watch and a white pearl necklace. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
